The revival in Gokana can be dated back to July 2011 when a kingpin from among the deadliest cult gangs in the creeks walked up to Rev. Fr. Abel Agbudu, the Parish Priest of St. Patrick Catholic Church and Principal of St. Pius X College in Bodo City, Gokana Local Government Area, to make a series of confessions. This led to youths in their hundreds taking a resolve to give up cultism, militancy and other social vices and to follow Jesus Christ.
Early in July 2016, a similar event also happened which also led several hundreds of youths in Gokana to come forward and surrender their weapons and charms. The Charismatic Renewal Ministries (CRM) was given the privilege and opportunity to reach out to and disciple these former cult boys.
We are happy to testify that the Lord has mightily used CRM Rivers State 1, to start churches in 12 of the 17 Gokana villages and also rehabilitate some of these former cultists. On the other hand, the devil is also fighting hard and has taken many of the boys back to cultism due to the inadequacy of hands and resources in properly establishing them. Now, a concerted effort is needed from all CRM members and churches globally to ensure that these militants that have renounced the devil do not go back and also to reach out to other folks in the Gokana community.
Speaking on this great project at the Intercessor’s Camp 2016 at Mgbirichi, the General Overseer of CRM Worldwide, Dr. Cosmas Ilechukwu announced that this Gokana challenge is not only for Rivers State or South/South but also for the whole of CRM. According to him, this is one way of confirming whether or not CRM worldwide is ready for the Great Harvest!
Therefore, from 26th June to 2nd July 2017, Missions Aid International is joining Rivers State 1 & 2 to lead CRM worldwide into Gokana for an all-embracing project of vocational training and empowerment, free Medicare, deliverance, and soul winning! We call it the Gokana Great Visitation!
THE FOLLOWING RESOURCES ARE NEEDED TO MAKE THIS PROJECT A MISSION POSSIBLE:
1. The budget of N30 Million for Vocational Training and Empowerment-for-Business of 300 former cultists now turned CRM members in 12 local CRM centers in Gokana.
2. Budget of N5 Million for hosting of project (Free Medicare, Accommodation, Feeding, Transportation, Propaganda, Evangelical Equipment, etc.)
3. Public Address Systems and Musical Equipment for the existing 12 local CRM churches in Gokana (Used or Refurbished units will be accepted from churches that may want to donate their old equipment.)
OUR VISION OF HOW YOU MAY GET INVOLVED
This is a call to all CRM members, CRM partners and CRM churches worldwide to contribute each person/church, a quota to make this Great Visitation possible. The budget of N35 million plus PAS and Music equipment will be raised as follows:
1. All CRM churches to contribute the sum of N100,000 each.
2. 10 individuals or families to contribute N1 million each
3. 10 individuals or families to contribute N500,000 each.
4. 20 individuals or families to contribute N250,000 each.
5. 20 individuals or families to contribute N100,000 each.
6. 50 individuals or families to contribute N50,000 each.
7. 100 individuals or families to contribute N20,000 each.
8. Others (as the Lord may help you to give!)
NOTE WELL that except one understands our General Overseer’s assertion that the Gokana Project is a test of CRM’s readiness for the Great Harvest for which we were born, one may not understand this kairos moment that God has chanced upon us and why we must all arise beyond the usual, to make Gokana a Missionary success!
