CHARISMATIC RENEWAL MINISTRIES.
DIRECTORATE OF MISSIONS
2020 NATIONAL MISSIONS WEEK BIBLE STUDY.
TITLE: GOD’S WORD ON ADOPTION OF MISSIONARIES.

1. INTRODUCTION.
• The Bible talks severally about adoption. The birth and adoption of Moses was a landmark story in the Bible. That story alone shows the love and sacrifice of both birthing and adopting mothers. It is clear that adoption is central to the fulfillment of the mission of Christ.
• The call to make disciples of all nations is a call that requires a strong partnership between passionate “goers” and committed “senders”. This is the oil that lubricates the wheels of global missions.
• By the leading of the Holy Spirit, Missions Aid International is presenting us with the opportunity to play a role in taking Christ to the frontiers of missions, by means of Adoption and Partnership.
• By choosing to adopt a missionary (or missionaries), you put yourself in the line of battle as one of the Generals that make Christ known in various regions of the world.

2. CONVICTION FOR ADOPTING A MISSIONARY?
• CRM is blessed with several die-hard missionaries, many of whom abandoned everything to serve God in Missions.
• Many such missionaries are either not being paid any salary or are paid so little due to scarcity of funds.
• It is sad to note that several missionaries suffer untold hardships and defeat, due to the lack of effective partnership from church members.
• Adoption of missionaries by individual church members is therefore a great solution to the present funding difficulties faced by missionaries.
• However the adopter must come with full conviction (not just sympathy) that adopting a missionary is a godly and good thing to do.
• As one missions mobilizer asked: “Even if you didn’t hear the call, can you not see the need?”
• Matthew 25:40: “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”

3. WHY ADOPT A MISSIONARY?
• It makes a statement about you or your church. You are helping to fulfill the Gospel Commission, which is Christ’s purpose for us and His church.
• As you give to support God’s work, God will give back to you. Luke 6:38: Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
• You are helping to shape the future. Reaching an unreached people group is history in the making. Your support will make a worldwide impact that will help to shape future churches and win hearts for eternity.

4. WHAT TO EXPECT FROM YOUR ADOPTED MISSIONARY?
• Your adopted missionary will regularly communicate with you or your church with testimonies and updates.
• They will also regularly pray for you, your family or your church and the needs of your various members.

5. WAYS OF ADOPTING.
5.1. You can adopt one missionary or more.
➢ Involves sending an amount of money monthly to the missionary. The amount depends on you. Note that the regularity of giving is as important as the amount.
➢ It also involves praying for the missionary regularly.
5.2. You can adopt a mission field.
➢ Involves sending an amount monthly to the mission field for their projects. The amount depends on you. It also involves praying for the mission field regularly.
5.3. You can adopt a Special Mission Project.
➢ Involves partnering with Missions Aid International to activate the following projects with any amount monthly or with a one time donation:
A. Mephiboshet Project: Scholarships for the children of dead CRM Missionaries.
Matthew 18:5: “Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me,”
B. Widows & Orphans Outreach Project:
✓ Providing general aid to qualifying widows and orphans as led by the Holy Spirit.
✓ Isaiah 1:17: “Learn to do good; seek justice, reprove the ruthless, defend the orphans, plead for the widow.”
✓ James 1:27: “Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.”
5.4. Prayer Adoption: This involves adopting a particular field as your prayer project. Interceding and upholding that mission field and their programmes in prayers.

6. EXAMPLES OF ADOPTION IN THE BIBLE.
